Kisoro joins a long list of areas within the country to receive motorcycles including Rwenzori Sub region which received 189 motorcycles, Teso Sub region with 140 motorcycles.

The Government has stressed the importance of monitoring activities in Education, Health and the recently launched Parish Development Model (PDM) as rallying points that need a lot of dedicated supervision so as to make a difference in people’s lives.

The Kisoro District LCV Chairperson Abel Bizimana commended the NRM Government for valuing and rewarding the local Council chairpersons who work closely with the people and understand their issues well.

Bizimana cautioned the chairpersons against mishandling the motorcycles but rather urged them to use the motorcycles for monitoring Government projects.

“Please ensure that these motorcycles are used only by Government workers and not family and friends otherwise their intended purpose will have been defeated”, Bizimana stressed

The Kisoro Resident District Commissioner Hajji Shafiq Sekandi said it is of great value that Government has responded to a long time cry by the LCIIIs to access transport means to monitor Government projects.

Sekandi warned that any Government motorcycle caught on the road passed 6pm or being ridden by someone intoxicated with Alcohol will face punitive measures.

The 24 Yamaha 125 series have been valued at over 550 million shillings.

The Nyakinama LCIII chairperson Charles Kamuhanda Charles also thanked the Government of Uganda for providing transport means to leaders who will now be able to effectively monitoring Government programs.

Kamuhanda called on his fellow LCIII chairpersons and Mayors to work together to ensure that Government programs succeed so that poverty can be wiped out in the entire district.
