The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the Most Rev. Dr. Steven Kazimba Mugalu, has called on Christians to remain steadfast in their faith and committed to serving God despite differences in political affiliation, tribe, and personal interests.

Archbishop Kazimba made the remarks on Friday June 26th 2026 while addressing hundreds of Christians at St. Andrew’s Cathedral Seseme in Northern Division, Kisoro Municipality, during his farewell pastoral visit to Muhabura Diocese.

The Archbishop expressed gratitude for the warm reception accorded to him by Christians, clergy, district leaders, and security personnel who welcomed him upon his arrival at Kisoro Airport earlier in the day.

Speaking while greeting Christians, Archbishop Kazimba urged Christians not to allow politics, tribalism, or other worldly affiliations to divide them.

“Our commitment should first be to God. Political differences and tribal identities should never separate us as Christians,” Archbishop Kazimba said.

He noted that even football rivalries should not become a source of division among believers.

“God is above Arsenal, Liverpool and every other earthly affiliation. Whatever situation we go through, we must continue trusting in Jesus Christ,” he added.

The Archbishop encouraged Christians to remain united, love one another, and continue serving God faithfully, saying unity in Christ is more important than political or social differences.

Meanwhile, the Bishop of Muhabura Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Godfrey Mbitse, urged Christians to put into practice the teachings they had received from the Archbishop instead of merely listening to them.

Bishop Mbitse thanked the people of Kisoro for the unity they demonstrated in organizing a successful welcome for Archbishop Kazimba and for their continued support of the Church’s ministry.

“The message we have received should transform our lives. Let us remain united and live according to the teachings we have received,” Bishop Mbitse said.

Archbishop Kazimba’s visit to Muhabura Diocese forms part of his farewell pastoral tour.
