Tokyo Olympics: Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei wins gold in men’s 5000m

Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei and Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon have both won gold medals on day 14 of the Tokyo Olympics.
Cheptegei won the men’s 5,000m to take his second medal of the games after a silver in the 10,000m while Kipyegon retained the1500m title she won at the Rio Games five years ago.
World 10,000m champion Joshua Cheptegei produced a massive sprint in the last two laps to win his first Olympic gold in the men’s 5000m at the Tokyo Olympics.
The Ugandan timed 12:58.15 ahead of Canadian Mohamed Ahmed (12:58.61) and Kenyan-born American Paul Chelimo (12:59.05) in second and third respectively.
