In an emotional Labour Day message shared on his official X account on May 1st 2026, Bizimana confirmed that he will hand over office as District Chairperson in mid-May 2026.

Bizimana reflected on his journey, which began with five years of service as a clinician and health manager, followed by 15 years as a public health educator, before transitioning into political leadership where he has served as LCV Chairperson for the past 10 years.

“Ten years of serving as political head was both challenging and rewarding,” he said, adding that despite the modest pay associated with political service, the trust and support from the people of Kisoro remained invaluable.

He expressed gratitude to the residents of Kisoro District for the confidence they placed in him throughout his leadership, noting that their trust defined his time in office.

“To my ardent supporters who wanted me to stay on as governor, I am sorry. You had assured me of an effortless win, which I knew I would definitely get,” Bizimana stated.

His farewell follows a recent political setback in the Bufumbira East parliamentary race, where he contested as an independent candidate.

He finished third with 1,943 votes, behind National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate Roland Nkurumah, who secured 14,708 votes, and independent candidate Christopher Tumwizere, who garnered 9,304 votes.

Bizimana explained that his decision to contest for Parliament was part of a broader plan to transition into higher national leadership, although the bid was unsuccessful.

He, however, expressed hope that his experience and long-standing service would be recognized, and that he could still be entrusted with a strategic role to continue contributing to national development.

“With a new and higher responsibility, I would be more resourceful, reach deeper and higher than local politics, all for a better Kisoro and Uganda,” he noted.

In his message, Bizimana also extended Labour Day wishes to workers across the country, acknowledging the efforts of all Ugandans striving for a better future.

“To you and me who have laboured for our survival, and to you who still labour for the Uganda we want, I wish you a Happy Labour Day,” he said.

He further praised President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his leadership, describing him as a committed servant of the nation.
