Kisoro Hospital Staff have been urged to put on name tags while on duty for easy identification by patients who visit the hospital for treatment.
The call was made by the Kisoro Chief Administrative Officer Hajji Badru Mayanja during a recent monitoring visit at the hospital.
Hajji Badru Mayanja was accompanied by the Principal Secretary George Kwizera.
Kwizera said several complaints from the public suggest that some health workers are extorting money from patients.

Kwizera said such allegations have been made against some health workers however no one has come forward with evidence of extortion.
He noted that all health workers on duty will be required to wear name tags at all times. This will help build public trust in the health care system at Kisoro Hospital.
The Hospital administration has further been advised to put up a notice at the entrance of the maternity ward indicating a shortage that will require patients to buy the necessary items from outside the hospital.
“The most sought-after items in the maternity ward like gloves, gauze and other tablets have recently been stocked however should run out, the hospital must put up a public notice, Kwizera explained.
During the monitoring visit, it was also observed that some staff meant to support the services in the Laboratory and the stores were not present and several complaints made to the office of CAO reveal that they often abscond from duty.
The hospital generator was also found not to be working well due to a faulty battery which has affected operations of the hospital during power outages.
Kwizera said continuous dialogue with the Hospital staff and Board of directors will ensure that services at the hospital keep improving.
Kisoro District Hospital serves majority of the people from Kisoro and also caters for foreigners including Rwandese and Congolese.
