The Kisoro district LCV vice chairperson Alex Ndayambaje has called on the youth to embrace education with focus on practical skills if they are to remain relevant in the changing world.
The comments were made during a swearing in ceremony of a new Guild Council at Kisoro Block Prime Institute in Kisoro Municipality.
Ndayambaje explained that, with the widening economic gap in the country, the rich are likely to become richer and the poor, even poorer.
However youth from humble backgrounds can have opportunities to network and work with youth of better backgrounds by being able to offer a service which they can pay for.
He further called on Parents to invest in the education of their children, especially in practical skills because the Government is preparing to invest heavily in industrialization and value addition.
Former LCV woman councillor for Nyakinama Sub County Idah Mugenga commended the learners for choosing wisely.
She noted that the world has become a global village being connected by technology and other innovations.
Mrs Mugenga further challenged the youth to become creators and not seekers of formal employment if they are to be relevant in the current economy.
Rev. Herbert Mujabwami, a board member at Kisoro Block Prime Institute called on the new Guild Council to become beacons of light through their integrity and willingness to serve others.
Kisoro Block Prime Institute Principal Amos Byimana said one of the core values at the institute is empowerment of youth with Skills.
He noted that the school is prepared to churn out eager and bright people who will fit into the Government vision of 2040 which include economic empowerment at individual and household level.
