All roads led to St. Andrews Cathedral, Seseme in Kisoro Municipality where the 29th Muhabura Anglican Youth Missioners (MAYM) Convention is taking place.
The religious event seeks to bring together more than 3000 Women and Youth from Kabindi, Gisorora, Iryruvumba, Gitovu and Seseme Archdeaconries.
The Bishop of the Diocese of Muhabura Right Rev Godfrey Mbitse said this year’s event will focus on teaching the general public about the devastating effects of corruption and Domestic Violence that have left many families struggling and unable to fully serve God.
He further called upon leaders at various levels to seek the power and wisdom of God when serving communities so that development, peace and harmony can be attained in the new year of 2024.
Mission coordinator Rev. Emmanuel Nsengiyumva said this year’s convention will be derived from the Bible book of Romans 12:1-2 which states, Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Re. Nsengiyumva said many people have conformed to the standard of the world and departed from the true ways of God therefore the convention is a clarion call for all people to repent and turn back to Christ Jesus.
The MAYM convention will run until Sunday 21st January 2024.
