Kigezi tipped for Development as 620 acres for Industrial Park is secured in Kisoro district
Minister of State Privatization and Investment Hon. Evelyn Anite has commended the people of Kisoro and Kabale districts for agreeing to avail land for Industrial parks.
The Minister who is touring the region on the directive of President Museveni with the objective of securing land for Industrial parks that will boast economic development in the country.
Hon. Evelyn Anite, who is visiting Kisoro district was pleased to learn that the district leadership had unanimously agreed to offer 620 acres of prime land located in Kibaaya, Rukundo town council to Uganda Investment Authority.
The decision comes following a district council resolution to offer the land to Uganda Investment Authority for the specific use of an Industrial Park.
The Minister was accompanied by the Uganda Investment Authority executive director Robert Mukiza.
Kisoro district LCV chairperson Abel Bizimana said Kisoro district is open for business and explained that more industrial parks are welcome because all leaders have been oriented on the importance of such ventures.
“We hope that business ventures like industrial parks will flow like water. Our children will get jobs and Kisoro district will also be recognized for Value addition to Ugandan products”, said Bizimana
Kabale Tour
Minister Anite who was in Kabale District yesterday at the proposed site for the Kabale industrial park at the former Kabale airstrip in Kanyinaburiba village of Kyanamira Parish in Kyanamira Subcounty, said the place was not enough according to the presidential directive, but a micro industrial park could fit there.
The proposed site in Kabale district measures only 50 acres.
Hon. Anite said the president’s directive requires at least 500 acres of land for each industrial park, but it was impossible for Kabale district.
Hon.Anite was accompanied by the state Minister for Finance and Planning, Hon. David Bahati, Minister of State for Local Governments Victoria Rusoke, Ndorwa East Member of Parliament Wilfred Niwagaba, Kabale District Chairperson Nelson Nshangabasheija, and Kabale Municipality Mayor Senatro Byamugisha, among others.
