District Health Office Instructed to handover Cylinders to HC IVs

The district task force has instructed the district health office to immediately release oxygen cylinders meant for the health center IVs that were donated by UBUNTU group.

The 7 cylinders that were recently donated and received by the district task force came with conditions that health center IVs that carry out testing for Covid 19 each receive an oxygen cylinder.

These include Chahafi, Busanza and Rubuguri

During the task force meeting, it was revealed that the district health officer Dr. Steven Nsabiyumva had retained the cylinders meant for the health center IVs.

The decision by Dr. Nsabiyumva was made without consultation of the district task force.

According to Dr. Nsabiyumva, the cylinders are meant to aid in an emergency situation when Oxygen at Kisoro hospital runs out.

“We found it imperative to keep them behind because we are aware that HCIVs are not allowed to admit patients with Covid 19. Kisoro hospital has been experiencing oxygen shortage so we had to save them for emergencies”, Dr. Nsabiyumva said

Members of the task force did not agree with his argument and demanded that he respect the conditions of the donor, to avoid looking unfaithful.
