Police in Rukungiri district have arrested a 54 year old man who allegedly murdered his 44 year old wife on Wednesday night this week.
The suspect has been identified as James Kashaija while the deceased wife is Enid Ndyomugyenyi, all residents of Rwanama village Kahoko parish Nyakishenyi Sub County in Rukungiri district.
As reported to police, it’s alleged that on Wednesday at around 11pm, James Kashaija went back home from a social evening at Omukikona trading centre, woke up the wife and accused her of being drunk.
The wife also retaliated and told him that he also drinks alcohol, which annoyed him, he removed his black gumboots and used them to assault her on the chest and the back.
It is Further said that when there was an attempt to rescue her, the husband pulled her off the bed, put her on the floor and got a piece of old timber which he used to assault her on the legs, and knees and squeezed her neck after which he left her naked and helpless on the floor.
The husband slept in another room, but on Thursday morning at around 7am, he checked on her and found her dead.
The Kigezi region Police spokesperson, Afande Elly Maate said in a brief statement that the suspect has been arrested and body of the deceased taken to Rwakabengo Health Center III mortuary for post-mortem as police investigates that matter.
