Police in Rubanda District have arrested three suspects over an alleged case of theft from a motor vehicle along the Kabale–Kisoro highway.
The suspects were identified as Arigye Ivan, 20, a resident of Rugarama Kakore, Niwaha Dancan of Kamuterere Kakore, and Ainamani Justus of Muyorere Kitawulira.

They were arrested on Thursday May 21st 2026 following an operation conducted by officers from Hamurwa Police Station.

According to Kigezi region police spokesperson Elly Maate, the incident occurred at Karukara Market in Hamurwa Town Council during the night of May 21, 2026.
Police say the District Police Commander of Rubanda, SP Tumwebaze JB, received information that unidentified thugs had intercepted occupants of a truck at Karukara Market, assaulted them and robbed several items.
A police team was immediately dispatched to the scene, but the suspects had reportedly fled before officers arrived.
However, while conducting operations near Hakakondogoro Trading Centre, close to Karukara Market, officers intercepted suspected thieves transporting a calf believed to have been stolen.

The suspects were riding on motorcycle registration number UEV 958H, a red Bajaj Boxer.
Police said the suspects abandoned both the motorcycle and the calf before fleeing from the scene.

The recovered items were later taken to Hamurwa Police Station as investigations continued.
According to police, intelligence-led operations later led to the identification and arrest of the three suspects after they were reportedly identified by the victim.
The suspects are currently in police custody pending prosecution as investigations continue.
