Police arrest suspect over malicious damage to motor vehicle

Police in Kawempe have arrested Katongole Anthony, also known as “Chicken Chicken,” in connection with a case of malicious damage to a motor vehicle.

The arrest follows a viral video circulating on social media platforms, which allegedly shows the suspect damaging a Toyota Mark X, registration number UBM 696S, belonging to Sali Sharif, also known as “Shawa Shawa.”

The incident is reported to have occurred on 25th June 2026 at approximately 3:00 a.m. in the parking area of Akamweesi Mall, located in Kawempe Division, Kampala District.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect, together with other individuals who are still at large, allegedly smashed the vehicle’s windscreens, causing extensive damage.

The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue.

Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the other individuals believed to have participated in the incident.

Police strongly condemn all acts of lawlessness and wish to remind the public that such conduct will not be tolerated and that anyone found engaging in criminal acts will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
