The Health Assistant at Nyarusiza HC III Evelyn Tukamusime says most of the affected homes have managed to secure some land to construct latrines however the 13 homes do not have anywhere to construct toilets.

According to Tukamusime, the affected families are now sharing toilets with neighbors so as to avoid any outbreaks of disease related to poor sanitation.

She says Latrine coverage in Nyarusiza Sub County currently stands at 89% which is encouraging.

Tukamusime says most of the affected land is farm land and people are doing their best to maintain their personal hygiene.

“One family in Gasenyi village, Mabungo Parish, Nyarusiza Sub County is where we have a stubborn family where they have refused to construct a latrine. We are preparing to take the head of the home to court, Tukamusime explained.
