The top leadership of Kisoro district has called upon the first batch of youth set to benefit from the Presidential Initiative on Skilling in Kamugangizi sub-county, Buranga Parish, Ndorwa County in Kabale district to remain focused on their studies and ensure that the newly acquired skills are used to create self-employment and wealth.
The Kigezi Industrial Hub aims at skilling youth in districts of Rukungiri, Kabale, Kisoro, Kanungu, Rubanda and Rukiga.
A total of 66 youths from Kisoro district who have selected to study under the presidential initiative on skilling. The youth who were meant to depart on 11th July 2022 have been asked to wait for another two weeks.
Kisoro Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Hajji Shafiq Sekandi says the instructors are still undergoing training on Patriotism in Kyankwazi.
Sekandi advised the youth to use the opportunity wisely adding that the privilege could have gone to others but it was their chance to make a positive difference for themselves.
“For the next six months, the President of Uganda has covered the cost of your meals, accommodation and learning materials. Please remain committed the objective of learning and improving your lives for a better future”, Sekandi said
The Kisoro Municipality Mayor Ndyana Richard stressed the importance of discipline while at the learning facility.
Ndyana noted that Discipline is a key component many youth today seem to ignore as a pre-requisite to success.
The Kisoro district NRM Vice chairman Ramazan Ndikuyeze said the youth who will benefit from the six month training on Vocational Skills will be well equipped to benefit from Parish Development Model which seeks to empower communities at household level to come out of Poverty.
Ndikuyeze said NRM Government is committed to supporting the youth become innovators and job creators.
Kisoro district LCV chairperson Abel Bizimana challenged the youth to desist from Sexual activity while at the training centre because it can derail them from the intended purpose of learning.
He tipped the females to become bold and determined while learning because the world beliefs no longer support the mentality of a stay home wife, waiting on her husband to be the sole bread earner therefore young women need to learn to make their own money to support their future families.
Presidential Industrial Hubs is a program that was started by President Yoweri Museveni.
During his campaigns, Mr Museveni realised so many youths were unemployed & very vulnerable. In his wisdom, he designed a program that would help the youths generate money & be part of the money economy.
The Industrial Hubs will see the youth gain skills in shoe making, carpentry, tailoring, knitting & weaving, baking, masonry, brick laying, plumbing & electronics.
