The outgoing Kisoro municipal town clerk Mr Peter Masiko yesterday handed over to Nakintu Sharifa, as the incoming town clerk.
Mr Matsiko, who has been in Kisoro for three years is replaced by Ms Sharifa who has been working at Njeru Municipality in Buikwe district.
While handing over, at the Kisoro municipal council hall, Mr Matsiko appealed to the municipal revenue committee to double their efforts in revenue collection, a department that has reportedly not been working well.
The new town clerk Nakiintu Sharifa asked the council and other staff members to perform their duties appropriately and ensure a harmonious working environment if the municipality must develop.
She also said that Kisoro municipality has been collecting less revenue compared to her former working station, Njeru Municipality, asking the responsible officials to work hard to get enough revenue for municipality to support different sectors.
In their farewell to Matsiko, Kisoro municipal mayor Ndyana Richard said that the three years Matsiko had spent in Kisoro, he managed to set up developmental initiatives despite hardships. He also noted that despite the disagreements they had on several decisions, it was all for the good of the municipal.
The council welcomed the new Clerk and expressed optimism that much will be achieved with her. Kisoro municipality recently passed resolutions of extending power to areas which are still lacking among others.
Other issues awaiting the new clerk include installation and fixing of street lights, working on drainage channels, fixing potholes on most of the roads, extending power and piped water to all areas among others.
