Man in 50s hacked to death with Stone, Teens arrested after confessing to Murder.

Residents of Gatete Village in Northern division, Chahafi town council were yesterday left in shock after a 50 year old man was found lying by the road with serious injuries to his head.

The man who was discovered by passersby the next morning say the attackers were teenagers who had been drinking in the same bar.

Kisoro Police say they have arrested 7 suspects in connection to the murder.

Kisoro district Police CID Erias Beiruka says among the suspects include three teenagers aged 14, 14 and 15 years respectively.

Other suspects include Deus Ndayambaje 20, Nkeramugabi Clement among others.

He noted that four suspects are currently detained while others were released after offering information to the Police.

Beiruka said that the suspects who confessed to the crime said it was because they had been drinking a lot that night and the deceased who had been drinking in the same bar kept taunting them.

He further that noted that teenagers in the area have run amok during the prolonged lockdown because they spent most of their time playing pool and smoking narcotics

While speaking to Voice of Muhabura, the teenagers said they committed the crime.

“We decided to follow him and our intention was to hurt him so we used a stone hit him on his head several times and left him there”, Suspects said.

Relatedly, One Clement Nkeramugabi was also arrested after trying to hide his grandson, a minor who is also accused of committing murder. The Minor was arrested by a mob as he tried run across to Rwanda, through the hills of Kibumba.

Upon his return, residents turned violent and decided to effect mob justice, leaving the minor and his accomplice fighting for their lives.

Residents in the area have condemned alcoholism and idleness among the youth who are now considered a security threat to anyone who has money.
