A dark cloud hangs over the Political class of Kisoro District Local Government following the untimely death of 4-year-old Keza Keyira, daughter to District Vice Chairperson Alex Nambajimana.
Keyira succumbed to heart failure while seeking medical treatment at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital yesterday.
Close sources within the family say, Keyira was born with heart related complications that require constant attention and monitoring.
Kisoro District LCV Chairperson Abel Bizimana, in a message posted on X says, “Little Kylar came in form of an angel and Hon. Nambaje and his Love fought to retain her like Jacob did. It took Jacob a whole night but for Alex it has been several years! Like the angel had to leave so has Kylar”. Bizimana said.
A burial ceremony is slated to take place tomorrow 28th of October 2023 at their ancestral home in Burungu Village, Muramba Parish, Muramba Sub County, Kisoro District at 12 noon.
An outpouring of condolence message for Central Division Councilor and his family continue to appear in various whatsup groups for Kisoro.
Haguma Robert says, to my brother Alex, be strong and Courageous for God is the one with all our plans. It is sad to lose a child or a loved one.
Bitangaro Sam, former MP Bufumbira South said, to my friend Alex and your dear wife, deepest condolences and sympathies to you for your loss of this little angel. May the Lord comfort you and keep you strong to bear the pain that comes with this loss.
Davis Ntegerejumukiza, a clinical officer at Potters Village said the late Keza was one of their favorite clients because she was always a jolly little girl.
According to Ntegerejumukiza, the stage of Keza’s heart condition was advanced and was no longer operable adding that at one point she had to be airlifted from Kisoro to Mulago for treatment.
He advised parents to check for such abnormalities in their babies during the first month after they are born in order to plan for the best course of action.
Heart related complications might present themselves in children with failure of a child to gain weight, difficulty in breathing as well as being sickly all the time.
Ntegerejumukiza says heart related cases among children are on the rise with two out of every 100 children who come to Potters Village have such heart conditions.
