Tourists heading to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, via Nyundo and Kirundo Sub Counties in Kisoro district have a reason to smile after the Ruhezamyenda Bridge has now been made suitable for use by Motor vehicles.
The revelation was made by the Chief Administrative Officer Hajji Badru Mayanja.
Mayanja says the rehabilitation of the bridge was an emergency that required quick intervention.
The process of fixing the bridge included clearing of trenches, adding Culverts and hard rocks as well installing gabions.
Mayanja says the project will most likely cost between 50 and 80 Million Ugandan shillings.
Ruhezamyenda Bridge connects Nyundo and Kirundo sub counties at Kasharara and Mukozi villages.
It is also a route to high end tourist accommodation that have been struggling to transport clients.
Local communities had also been cut off from doing trade as well as accessing medical and education services.
