The process of fixing the bridge included clearing of trenches, adding Culverts and hard rocks as well installing gabions.

Mayanja says the project will most likely cost between 50 and 80 Million Ugandan shillings.

Ruhezamyenda Bridge connects Nyundo and Kirundo sub counties at Kasharara and Mukozi villages.

It is also a route to high end tourist accommodation that have been struggling to transport clients.

Local communities had also been cut off from doing trade as well as accessing medical and education services.

Bukimbiri County MP Eddie Kwizera Wagahungu who recently monitored the progress of the rehabilitation works commended the district leadership for responding to the plight of the people.

Kisoro District LCV Chairperson Abel Bizimana says the district began the rehabilitation works without any funds but needed to get work done because the people were suffering.

He vowed to monitor the rehabilitation works till completion.
