Four suspects connected to the murder of 24-year-old Patel Kumar Kuntaj during a broad light assassination on the 27th of October 2022 have today appeared before the Kisoro Chief Magistrates Court.
The suspects include the Elioda Gumizamu aged 21, who shot and killed the Indian businessman.
Others include Bernard Nteziyaremye commonly known as Lampard aged 36, Gardiso Nyabangabo commonly known as Gardson aged 36 and Charles Nteziryayo aged 56.
The state prosecution told court, that the suspects and others still at large are being charged with two counts including Murder and Conspiracy to commit Murder.
Court led by Chief Magistrate Komakech Kenneth heard that Elioda Gumizamu, a resident of Kanyabukungu Village in Nyakabande Sub County, a police officer attached to Nyakabande transit camp shot and killed one Kuntaj Patel on 27th October 2022 in main village, Kisoro Municipality.
Bernard Nteziyaremye commonly known as Lampard, a resident of Shozi village, Gisorora parish, Nyakabande Sub County and a security guard attached to Mountain Harvest, alongside with Gardiso Nyabangabo commonly known as Gardson, a resident of Gako village, Muramba Sub County, a driver and Charles Nteziryayo, a businessman conspired to kill the late Kuntaj Patel.
His worship Komakech Kenneth denied the suspects from entering a plea saying it is a preserve of the high court.
The suspects are expected to re-appear in court on the 6th of December 2022.
