Voice of Muhabura has concealed her identity due to her minor age.

The incident has however shocked the minor’s parents and teachers who had no information about her pregnancy.

Her father, Aloiz Banzibariho, told www.vomuhabura.com that her daughter delivered from her bedroom on Monday, May 13, at 10:00pm, when they were already in bed.

“We had already retired in bed. My wife woke me up that there was a newborn baby in the house. We were shocked because we didn’t know she was pregnant, he said.

He however says they suspect a one Tumuheirwe Brian from the same residence to be responsible.

“We have been told by many people that she has been moving up and down with that boy. But the boy has disappeared and his parents have disowned our daughter,” he added.

The head teacher at the victim’s school, Byaruhanga Innocent, says they did not expect the learner to be pregnant, even with the checks they had among the pupils.

He adds that the young victim had just joined their school, after leaving nearby Kalehe Primary School.

However, Byaruhanga regrets that the school lacks female teachers, and the only female teacher that was posted there in February got a maternity leave the following month of March.

The matter has been reported to Kisoro Central Police Station, pending investigations.

Recently, the Bukimbiri County Member of Parliament, Eddie Kwizera wa Gahungu decried the absence of female teachers in his county, saying such schools lack Senior Woman Teachers who would support and nurture the young female learners.
