According to Karamira, the initial release of funds to the district will be used to look for a suitable contractor.

Kanyamateke Bridge, that was recently vandalized and put on fire by unknown people because of its poor state connects Buhozi parish of Busanza Sub County to Nyabwishenya & Kirundo sub counties.

It plays a vital role in connecting tourism destinations as well as connecting markets for trade which has been nearly impossible in recent months.

Another 500 Million Shillings has also been received by the district under road fund to maintain all affected district roads.

Karamira said the roads to be given top priority are those that are highly motorized but are in poor state. These include Bunagana-Nyakabande, Mupaka-Kamugemayi, Kanaba-Kabahunde, Iryaruhuri-Ikarango-Chibumba among others.

Kisoro District has a total of 297.2 kilometers of roads.
