The territorial police in Kisoro district are investigating circumstances under which a drug store at Maregamo Health Centre III in Murora Sub County, Kisoro district, was allegedly broken into, and some unspecified quantity of drugs stolen.
This was on the night of 19/01/2025 at an unknown time, Maregamo village, Murora Sub County in Kisoro district.
It is alleged that on the night of 19/01/025, two nurses were deployed for night duty including the askari, then the next morning of 20/01/2025, they booked off to the incoming day shift staff.
Information from Kigezi regional police spokesperson, Elly Maate, indicates that duties commenced from morning till11:30 hours, when they realized that the drug store had been broken into.
Maate adds that consequently, the in charge, clinical officer Dusingize Hylon, 27 years, was immediately alerted and she notified her district supervisors accordingly.
A report was registered at CPS Kisoro after some days for investigation purposes and the crime scene was visited by police and the district drug supervisor, processed and documented.
Maate says that an exhibit of a cut padlock was recovered and two suspects were arrested for questioning.
The suspects were identified as Namara Patrick, the Askari, and the Laboratory Assistant Habumuremyi Gard.
A search was conducted at the premises of the suspects and nothing was recovered, as inquiries into the matter continue.
Kisoro District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Stephen Nsabiyumva was not readily available for comment.
