Four police officers including Musabyimana Wycliffe, Yebuze Morris, Kizito Appeti, and Ndagijimana Emmanuel, were charged with being accessories after the fact to murder, contrary to Section 189 of the Penal Code Act Cap 128.

Court heard from prosecutor Ellen Nambi that on 7th May 2026, Hakizimana Mpumuseni and Nsabimana John Bosco allegedly caused the death of Uwimana Ntirenganya, a Congolese national, in an area between Kibyiyoni and Kagezi villages in Nyabwishenya Sub-county, Kisoro District.

The prosecution further alleged that the four police officers, knowing that the two civilians had committed murder, assisted them in escaping punishment.

The court was informed that investigations into the matter are still ongoing. Chief Magistrate Patrick Bamuhiga declined to take pleas from the accused persons, citing lack of jurisdiction, and remanded them to Kisoro Government Prison until 28th May 2026 for further mention.
