The Kisoro business community is mourning the death of Byensi Expedito, the Kisoro District Chairperson Chamber of Commerce.
Byensi breathed his last on Friday, April 12, 2024 at around 11pm, while receiving medication from Mulago National Referral Hospital.
Mr Expedito served as the Nyakabande LC5 Councillor and District Speaker, before he retired from elective politics.
Sources close to his family say he has been battling Diabetes and hypertension.
He is a veteran driver, known to have driven cargo trucks across several African countries.
As a businessman, the deceased is known to have owned several ventures and houses around Kisoro town and in Nyakabande Sub County, where he hails from.
He will be remembered for having struggled for the rights of the business community, during his reign as the Chairperson Chamber of Commerce, a position he has held for some years.
The deceased is among the few people from Kisoro who were lucky to contract and survive the deadly Covid-19.
His neighbours in Mutolere, Rambura village, Nyakabande Sub County, speak of him as a good man who supported many.
Pr Bakina Phillip told Voice of Muhabura that, “Expedito was helpful to most needy people, especially orphans that include me. He supported most members of our community and we shall live to remember that.”
John Ruratuye, another friend and neighbour to the deceased, praises the fallen businessman for having mentored him on doing business.
“Right from Amin times, Expedito helped and pulled us up to the level that we are today. We shall not forget him.”
Another relative, Gervas Harera, remarked that the deceased was an exemplary leader, parent, and community mobiliser against poverty.
“He started politics at the LC2 level, up to the District Speaker. He was a businessman who wanted others to prosper, with no jealous at all. We are hurt by his demise.”
By publication time, Voice of Muhabura had not yet spoken to the deceased’s family and the burial program had not been established.
May the late Byensi Expedito rest in eternal peace.
