This Thursday, supporters of now State Minister for Defence, Hon Sarah Mateke Nyirabashitsi, will gather at Kanaba Checkpoint for her Homecoming.
Organised by her fans in Kisoro, the event is to congratulate her upon the reappointment as a minister.
Hon Sarah, also the Kisoro Woman MP, was transferred to the Defence docket after serving as the state minister for Youths and Children Affairs.
She was replaced by events promoter and sworn member of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Balaam Barugahara.
According to the organisers, a procession will move from Mayor’s garden in Kisoro town up to Kanaba Checkpoint to meet the minister, and then return to Mayor’s garden for a celebration.
The Chairperson organizing committee, Rev Herbart Mujyabwami says the preparations have been a success, and they look forward to a colourful function.
He told Voice of Muhabura that, “almost the entire population of Kisoro wants to congratulate Hon Sarah upon her reappointment. We thank the District leadership including the LC5 Chairperson, RDC, CAO and others for responding to our call.”
Mujyabwami says they will converge at Mayor’s garden at 9am and then proceed to Kanaba to receive the Minister.
Speaking shortly after a preparatory meeting at Mubano Hotel, Kisoro LC5 Chairperson, Abel Bizimana said that Nyirabashitsi’s current position is an opportunity for Kisoro people to benefit security-wise.
He appealed to all people to join the procession as a celebration of a minister who represents Kisoro in the Cabinet.
“The minister we want to receive is not just Sarah Nyirabashitsi Mateke, but the Minister of Defence. Please help me as your Chairperson so that we welcome her as a whole district…” said Bizimana.
