Jackson Sibomana, a lay leader of Mubuga centenary, Rwaramba parish, Nyakinama sub-county, Kisoro district, yesterday became the first out 37 church Lay leaders in Kabindi Archdeaconry receive a heifer to help improve quality of life for his household.
Kabindi Lay Leaders Association under Kabindi Archdeaconry in the Diocese of Muhabura decided to start a development program that would ensure all their church leaders have a heifer by 2025.
This was confirmed by the chairperson of the association George Mushobora during a handover ceremony at Mubuga Centenary Church of Uganda.
Mushobora said it is vital that church leaders are self-reliant and can be able to look after their families without having to first wait for support from the Christians they lead.
He explained that the association goals are in tandem with the President Directive of social economic transformation through agriculture.
Jackson Sibomana, the first recipient of the heifer said the act of kindness and generosity towards his family is a great motivator to continue serving the communities in Kabindi Archdeaconry.
He vowed to look after the cow well and promised to ensure sustainability through the revolving structures designed by the association.
LC II Chairperson of Rwaramba Parish and a member of the Muhabura Diocesan Synod, Erick Nsekuye commended the efforts of the association that is geared towards promoting development in the church by empowering church leaders who can spread the message of hope and possibility to the congregations.
