Kisoro District Police Commander (DPC) Richard Musisi said the crime has been categorized as a Burglary because the criminals who are on run, broke through the metallic railing on the windows and stole the computers.

Musisi says a sniffer dog was deployed however the trail went cold when the dog reached the main road which could mean the criminals could have been moving with a motor vehicle.

The theft of the computer comes days after a mega celebration at the church grounds in Kisoro where the third Bishop of the Diocese of Muhabura, Bishop Godfrey Mbitse was enthroned and consecrated.

Musisi says, the criminals could have used the opportunity to scout the grounds and find out some of the weak spots in security which they took advantage of during the heavy downpour of rain on Monday night.

Retire all elderly guards on Night duty!

Musisi further advised that business premises in Kisoro need to retire all elderly guards who still move with a stick and torch from watching over valuable items, especially in businesses and schools.

At least two security guards, believed to be in their 60s, guarding the church grounds were asked to make statements before being released.

He noted that people need to invest in hiring private security Organizations that can offer more effective services and have bright security lights installed at places of work and homes to discourage wrong elements.

Diocese of Muhabura authorities declined to comment on the matter. They however said time should be given to the Police to carry out thorough investigations into the theft of the computers.
