Nzamwita, a resident of Kikobero village, Kikobero ward in Nyabwishenya sub-county, Kisoro district was admitted to St. Francis Hospital, Mutolere back in November 2021 after she missed a step while walking and sprained her leg.

The injury, according to health workers was quite severe.

The single mother of five was asked to go home in December, two months after completing her treatment.

Her total medical bill amounted to 1.4 million shillings.

The distressed woman says, she could not leave because she had no money to pay and had no one else to ask for support.

Voice of Muhabura radio, followed the issue up following a tip-off from the former Nyabwishenya LCIII Sub County chairperson Mugabo Duwari.

The radio story was aired on Wednesday 3rd February 2022 during the morning news.

Within hours of reading the news, Businessman and philanthropist from Bunagana town council Moses Duhimbaze visited the radio premises in Kamonyi and said he wanted to pay the entire hospital bill of the afflicted woman.

While at St. Francis Hospital, Mutolere Duhimbaze surprised Nzamwita who was in the female casualty ward.

Upon paying her bill, Duhimbaze offered Nzamwita a total of 90,000 Ugandan shillings as transport home.

Little known Duhimbaze came on to the social scene when he donated 10 million shillings to President Yoweri Museveni, during the recently concluded Presidential campaigns in Kisoro.

“I want to thank Voice of Muhabura for truly serving communities in Kisoro. I was able to learn about this poor woman’s plight while listening in to the news, Duhimbaze explained.

He explained that, it is was in order to help her even if he did not know her because it is what is expected of any Christian.

“People spend this kind of money drinking alcohol in bars, others spend it on things they really do not need, why not give it to someone who truly needs help, I believe that is what God wanted me to do, Duhimbaze said.

Several patients and their care takers thanked Moses Duhimbaze for his selfless acts adding that Nzamwita had been there too long and was completely hopeless.

They explained that they often shared what little food remained but there was nothing they could really do to help her.

While speaking to Voice of Muhabura, Nzamwita said she could not believe her life and how events had changed for the better within hours.

She said her priority now is to get to her children and give thanks to God for his miracle through Moses Duhimbaze.

She also commended Voice of Muhabura for its great work of bridging the gap between the Haves and Have-nots.
