Police in Kisoro District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 47-year-old Hategeka Eugene, a resident of Kisoro Main Village, Central Division, who was allegedly assaulted and later succumbed to injuries.
Acording to police preliminary reports, It is alleged that on April 26, 2026, at around 3:00 a.m., at Club Hills in Kisoro Municipality, the deceased was assaulted by a one Bahati and others following a misunderstanding at the bar. The bar manager, Niringiyimana Milla, reportedly intervened and rushed the victim to Mutolere Hospital for treatment.
He was later referred to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital, where he passed away on the morning of April 29, 2026.
The Kisoro District OC CID coordinated with counterparts in Mbarara to facilitate a postmortem examination, which has since been conducted.
Kigezi region spokesperson ASP Elly Maate confirmed that upon completion of investigations, all suspects connected to the case will be apprehended and charged accordingly.
