Attempts by Police to get an eyewitness account from residents in Kidakama Village were futile as people in the area say they did not recognize the elderly man.

Upon searching the Corpse, Police discovered a Voters Personal Card suggesting that the late Sekalema, once lived in Maziba Parish, Mpigi Sub County, Mawokota County, Mpigi District.

A Police source at the crime scene said that the scene of crime had not been tampered with and no weapon that could have caused the death could be found.

Police concluded that the old man was killed from somewhere else, and his body brought and dumped in another village to avoid being implicated in his untimely death.

Cases of murder in families is on the rise in the district as wives and children gang up against the head of the home demanding to own or sell some properties of land against his explicit wishes.

Several attempts to trace the deceased’s origins resulted in some people saying his home area might be Gasovu in Nyarusiza Sub County, Kisoro District.

Muramba Sub County LCIII Chairperson Francis Nzabona said it is unfortunate for an old man to die in such a horrible way.

He cautioned elderly men and women from moving late at night to avoid such incidences.

The body of the deceased was conveyed to Kisoro Hospital Mortuary for postmortem.
