At least 56 out of 58 Parish Development Model (PDM) Saccos in Kisoro district have received a total of 100,500,000 shillings each, with most of the saccos ready to distribute the money to beneficiaries.
This is according to Ngabo Herbart Bubasha, the Kisoro PDM coordinator, who appeared on a talk show on www.vomuhabura.com Tuesday evening.
He emphasized that much as the would-be beneficiaries have been complaining of delay in disbursing the funds, they are still within the limits of time.
He also attributes the delay to challenges with the system.
“We also delayed to receive the funds, but we have already disbursed the funds to groups such as in Muramba, Chahafi Town Council, Kigeyo and others, and they are ready to release money to the beneficiaries. We have however had challenges with people changing their phone numbers without informing us, thereby delaying the process.” Said Ngabo.
The Kisoro Assistant RDC, Hagumimana Valence, who also appeared on the talkshow, codenamed Government Hour, condemned people who bribe to benefit from the project.
According to Hagumimana, beneficiaries of the project will be required to pay back 1 million shillings, despite incurring extra costs in form of bribes.
He urged the public to report to the RDC’s office any official who demands any form of bribe.

Recently, the Bufumbira East Member of Parliament, Dr James Nsaba AButuro told Voice of Muhabura that he had received complaints of bribery from his people, with officials demanding between 100,000 and 300,000 Shillings before they could appear on the list of beneficiaries.
Dr Buturo asked anyone facing the problem to reveal the corrupt officials, and asked the RDC’s office to make thorough investigations.
“Any form of corruption is against the government project. Whatever money you pay as a bribe is against the progress in fighting poverty. Therefore, to fight this war, please report whoever makes those selfish demands.” Advised Buturo
