37 million shillings was raised over the weekend to facilitate construction works on the new Mwumba Parish Church of Uganda in Nkuringo Town Council, Kisoro District.
Mwumba Church of Uganda parish is belongs to Iryaruvumba Archdeaconry under the Diocese of Muhabura.
Bukimbiri County Member of Parliament Hon. Eddie Kwizera Wagahungu contributed 200 bags of cement worth 7,200,000 Ugandan shillings.
Hon. Wagahungu used the opportunity to speak to couples who continue to live together without getting the sacrament of holy matrimony.
He sponsored a mass wedding for all unwedded couples in the church by contributing a cow, rice worth one million shillings to spice up the occasion and pledged to contribute 50,000 shillings for each couple’s church wedding fees.
Bishop of the Diocese of Muhabura, Rt. Rev. Mbitse Godfrey commended Hon. Eddie Kwizera for being a hardworking man who speaks confidently while on the floor of parliament.
Bishop Mbitse said Hon. Kwizera is the kind of leader who serves God and his people with gladness which makes an effective leader.
