It is close to more than three months since all Motorsport activities were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

For many sportsmen, it was a time of missed competitions but not for motocross champion Maxime Van Pee.

It’s been a time of recuperation for the 26-year-old

Van Pee injured a ligament during a fans’ event in Busiika. That sidelined him for months.

“On my first race in Busiika I fell quite badly and yet I was just recently operated. I strained the ligament and it was so painful.

“So during the break, have been working on my recovery with some exercises and focused more on work and personal projects,” says Van Pee.

Mbarara City in brave battle to retain workaholic midfielder Ssegujja

Hardworking midfielder Swalik Bebe Ssegujja is currently embroiled in talks with management of Mbarara City Football Club following the expiration of his current employment contract.

Ranking along the current longest serving players at the Ankole Lions since the lower tier division (FUFA Big League), Ssegujja is among the crop that was promoted with the club to the Uganda Premier League.

Voice of Muhabura Sports has reliably established that Mbarara City is engaged in talks with the midfielder who covers as much space as possible, tackling and passing the ball expertly.

But, one club, SC Villa is also keen to snatch away the player in a bid to beef up their midfield at a time when David “Colgate” Owori and Amir Kakomo are also in talks with the Jogoo management as they are destined for moves away from Villa Park.

The Ankole Lions were 7th (with 36 points) by the time the 2020/21 Uganda Premier League season was abruptly ended because of the Coronavirus scourge.

Premier League hits and misses: Liverpool back in groove, Arsenal’s signs of progress, Blades dream.

Liverpool may be the Premier League champions, but their away form has been an odd sticking point. They had not won on the road since February, or scored in their last five away games in all competitions, before facing a Brighton side who have been much improved since the restart.

But much like London buses – and Liverpool buses no doubt – two goals arrived within eight minutes of the kick-off and 127 seconds of one another as Mohamed Salah and Jordan Henderson found the net, taking advantage of Brighton’s seeming inability to play out from the back.

Plain sailing, right? Not exactly. Brighton were unfazed by the Premier League champions and took the game to Liverpool, pulling a deserved goal back at the end of the first half. The Reds sometimes looked overrun by their opponents but their quality eventually shone through with their five substitutions all of the highest quality.

Brighton away could easily have been a banana skin. They have beaten Arsenal and Tottenham at the Amex Stadium this season and drawn against Chelsea, but Liverpool came through pretty much unscathed. They broke a record in the process too, becoming the fastest team to reach 30 Premier League wins, doing so in 34 games.

That will be the aim for Liverpool now – shattering records. Now they have reset their odd away form, they will be looking to become one of the best teams the Premier League has ever seen and break the 100-point mark.

Ashley Cole says Kieran Tierney has been “very good” for Arsenal since the Scotland international’s move to the Emirates Stadium last summer.

Tierney is following in the footsteps of Cole by playing in the left-back position in the Arsenal team under current manager Mikel Arteta.

The 23-year-old moved to Arsenal from Celtic last summer but the full-back has struggled with injury problems for a large part of the season.

Tierney, however, managed to regain full fitness during the enforced suspension of the Premier League due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Scottish defender has started five of their six games since the return of the English top flight to cement his position in the Arsenal team.
