Vipers SC picked up a 2-0 win against Soltilo Bright Stars FC at the St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Wednesday evening thanks to goals from Caesar Manzoki and Jamil Kaliisa as they regained top spot.
The reigning champions were dominant from the start, but Bright Stars were resilient enough to keep the game goalless by halftime.
It took Vipers an hour to break the deadlock. Manzoki opened the scoring for the Venoms at the hour mark which was his fourth goal of the season before Kaliisa sealed it for the Kitende based side in the 93rd minute of the game.
The hosts came into this game having dropped into the second position after Express FC picked up a 1-0 victory against Kitara FC on Tuesday.
They once again seat top of the 16-team log on 27 points while Bright Stars remained ninth on 14 points.
Vipers will make a trip to Kakyeka Stadium to take on Mbarara City FC on Saturday, February 6 while Bright Stars will host Onduparaka FC at the Kavumba Recreation Centre on the same day.
