A total of 178,159,600 Ugandan Shillings has been secured for the construction of a three classroom block and a five stance latrine at Bunagana Primary School.
Principal Assistant Chief Administrative Officer George Kwizera confirmed the development.
The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) raised the funds to assist rehabilitate the primary school that was negatively impacted by the presence of Congolese who were fleeing political instability in their own country.
Back in March this year, thousands of Congolese fled into Uganda, via Bunagana after rebel group, M23 launched an offensive against the Congolese Government forces.
More than 10 schools in Bunagana and Muramba Sub Counties provided temporary shelter for the Congolese until Government devised means to re-locate them to Nyakabande transit and holding camp.
Bunagana Primary School was one of the most affected schools, with properties worth millions of shillings vandalized by the Congolese, for firewood and temporary shelter.
The contractor, Jemaso Enterprise Limited is set to use Terrazzo floors for the new classroom block at Bunagana Primary School.
It is also prepared to construct a rainwater harvester at the school.
Kwizera Says the project will be completed within 6 months.
Godfrey Bigira, the head teacher of Bunagana Primary School commended the Government and UNHCR for remembering to support schools in Bunagana that were negatively affected.
The Mayor of Bunagana Town Council says the communities of Bunagana were greatly affected by the refugee influx adding that supporting the schools with rehabilitation is a vote of confidence to a caring and sympathetic Government.
