The Police in Kabale district are investigating circumstances under which 3 people suspected to have stolen a pig were killed by an angry mob.

Kigezi Regional Police Spokeperson, Elly Maate confirmed that the 3 men were this Friday clobbered to death in Ruboroga Village, Kigata Parish in Kyanamira Sub County, Kabale district.

Maate says that the pigs were stolen from Karustya Anyensi’s residence on Thursday night by unknown people but upon mounting a hunt, one suspect identified as Niwagaba Zephrino, aged 26, was found with one of the pigs. Upon serious beating, he revealed his accomplices whom the mob hunted down as well.

Maate explains that the residents rounded up Akampurira Justus, aged 20, and Akampereza Dickson, aged 22 all who were beaten to death.

When Police was informed, a team of detectives rushed to the scene but found the 3 already dead and rushed the bodies to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for postmortem.

Maate however warned that the Police have instituted investigations into the matter and will ensure that all those who participated in the mob are apprehended and punished accordingly.

The area police mouthpiece condemned the act of mob justice saying that the practice deprives Police the opportunity to find the root cause of the matter.

The case was registered at Kabale Central Police Station under reference number CRB 716/2021 to help in further investigation.
