Three Sub counties and newly created town councils have missed out in the Irish potato seeds distribution exercise that happened yesterday at Kisoro district headquarters.
The affected areas are; Murora Sub County, Chahafi and Nkuringo Town Councils.
A source from Kisoro district Operation Wealth Creation Office that preferred anonymity to speak to media revealed that the supplier delivered 218 bags of Irish potatoes instead of 253 that were meant to cover all the sub counties.
Earlier alone, the Kisoro district production Officer Ngabo Herbert Babusha had said that all parishes in Kisoro district will receive four bags of Irish seeds. By the time of distribution, there was a shortage making three administrative units of Murora, Nkuringo and Chahafi Town Councils to miss out.
However, the anonymous source says that there is hope that the areas will receive their share next week once the supplier delivers the remaining 35 bags.
According to Captain Bagabe the Bufumbira South Constituency and Kisoro Municipality Operation Wealth Creation Coordinator, every parish in Kisoro district is entitled to four bags of Irish Potato seeds. He says that the procured seedlings are not yet ready for planting. He urges farmers to store them for one month as they wait for mature seeds.
