If you are a sports lover, then you have probably come across phrases such as, no guts no glory or go hard or go home. This is the indomitable attitude the Nyarusiza Sub County Councilor Johns Mfitumukiza displayed while speaking to Voice of Muhabura after being rejected for the second time for the position of Secretary of Health.

The radio presenter who quickly rose to fame for his point blank Political comments in his program, Torch, as well as his weekend sports show is fighting for his chance to be recognized as a reputable leader with capacity to positively contribute to the development of Kisoro district, but does he have what it takes?

It was earlier this week during a council meeting that majority of the district councilors, through a secret ballot voted Johns Mfitumukiza and counterpart Central division councilor Alex Nambajimana out of the race in some of the highest political offices at district level.

While speaking to Voice of Muhabura, Johns Mfitumukiza, commonly known as torch said he is confident his name will be submitted for the third time by district chairperson Abel Bizimana who recognized his potential to be a great leader, if given a chance.

Johns said he does not understand why Councilors have decided to reject his nomination adding that none of them have offered any valid reasons for their actions.

Mfitumukiza said the bias from other councilors towards Nambajimana Alex and himself stems from jealousy based on the close working and mentoring relationship the district chairperson Abel Bizimana extends to Johns Mfitumukiza and Councilor Alex Nambajimana.

He further noted that other councilors have openly criticized his ability to communicate fluently in English however he challenged other councilors who feel they are perfect to cast the first stone.

“Issues of Integrity have been raised against me but who among us is perfect, who among us did not learn to improve themselves when they were given the opportunity?“ Johns said

Nambajimana Alex who was nominated for the position of district Vice chairperson said he still has hope of being nominated for a third time and approved because he has a lot to offer the people of Kisoro.

According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, the third time is the charm simply means that if two efforts at something have already failed, perhaps the third will be successful, Voice of Muhabura will be watching the Space.
