Residents of Bigina village, Southern division, Kisoro Municipality today awoke to sad news after one of the residents allegedly committed suicide.
The deceased has been identified as Prudence Tuyishime, believed to be between the ages of 23 and 25.
Tuyishime was housewife with two children and would sometimes part-time at one of the saloons in the area.
Locals claim that Tuyishime was discovered by neighbors today morning hanging on a wall side nail.
The neighbors say they learnt about her untimely death through the deceased’s seven year old son who is believed to have witnessed the entire ordeal.
The area LC I Francis Bamporiki confirmed the death. Bamporiki says the deceased was married to one Epfra Irakiza, a driver working with Kisoro district Local Government.
Bamporiki says the deceased was having martial problems with her husband who is believed to have married her after first marrying her elder sister.
“It was a well-known fact among the Locals that the deceased and her elder sister were both married to one man, however I cannot tell if this was the cause of her death, Bamporiki explained.
He furthers says, Tuyishime and her husband were last seen together the previous night.
“The two were often fighting about the woman beating the children severely as well as the man not being able to provide for them, Bamporiki said
He condemned acts of Suicide and urged communities to find relief from Government offices including LC I, Police and Probations.
A very distraught mother in law who visited the residence of her deceased daughter openly blames Epfra for the death of her daughter.
“I will not have her body at my home, you take her and bury her since you killed her”, Mother of the deceased kept yelling.
Attempts to speak to her and get her names and comment were futile as she was inconsolable.
Several eye witnesses say that it was strange that a fully grown woman could hang herself on a wall side nail used to hang clothes.
Some believe that the woman’s life could have been mysteriously ended.
Attempts to get a comment from Epfra proved fruitless as he calmly declined to comment on the matter.
By Press time, Kisoro Police took the body to Kisoro Hospital for postmortem and said investigations into the matter are ongoing.
