The Kisoro District Education Officer Emmanuel Mwunvaneza has praised educators in Government Primary Schools after most Learners in Primary Seven attained 2nd and 3rd grades in the just Concluded Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) of 2023.
According to Mwunvaneza, the best performing Sub County was Chahi Sub County with Muganza Primary School having six Pupils with 1st grade, 66 with 2nd grade and only four in 3rd grade.
Mwunvaneza explained that Nyarusiza and Muramba Sub Counties followed closely in improved performance however Sub counties like Nyundo and Kanaba performed poorly.
He noted that results are still trickling in however the educators need to be commended for a good job.
5,085 candidates registered for PLE 2023 with 2,980 females and 2105 Male pupils in Government Primary schools.
A total of 1,339 pupils registered in private schools.
Head teacher at Muganza Primary School Rev. Sam Nzita said many of the candidates never dodged class and the school created an environment for the learners to ask questions and engage their teachers freely.
Muganza Primary School was the best Government School followed by Gihuranda Primary School and Kirundo Primary School.
St. Allen Tops All Schools in Kigezi Region.
St. Allen’s Primary School in Kisoro Municipality has been praised for being the best performing Primary School in Kisoro and the entire Kigezi Sub Region during the just concluded Primary Leaving Examinations.
According to the School director, Mbonigaba Augustin, St. Allen’s Primary School was ranked the sixth in the entire country according to the New Vision and Daily Monitor Newspapers.
Mbonigaba attributed the success of his school to good feeding and conducive environment of tiled classrooms and dormitories which helps the learners feel safe and comfortable.
Kisoro Municipal Education Officer Sabiti Mugyema said that PLE performance of last year were far better than previous years with 54.35% improvement from 50.9%
He also explained that five children with special needs at Kisoro Demonstration School that sat for PLE managed to pass in Division three.
He urged parents to continue investing time and resources in educating their children if they are to attain a bright future.
