Gisorora and Kabindi Coordinating Centers are the district champions of the Kisoro district ball games that were played and concluded on the 28th day of July 2022 at Shaza playground in Kisoro Municipality.
Gisorora won in the boys’ football games while Kabindi Coordinating centre won in the girls’ netball games.
Ball games are an annual competition played in all primary schools countrywide during the second term.
Kabindi Coordinating Centre is set to represent Kisoro district at the national level in girls’ netball competitions while Gisoro Coordinating Centre will represent the district in boys’ football competitions.
Four coordinating centres from the district including Iryaruvumba, Kabindi, Kinanira and Gisorora were all competing for a top spot to get to the national competitions in Wakiso district this year.
Kabindi girls managed to secure 9 points, three more than Gisorora which got 6 points, Kinanira 3 points while Iryaruvumba did not get any point.
Since 2019, Kabindi coordinating centre’s Nyakabaya Primary School has gone unbeaten in the netball competition where they went on to became district champions proceeding to the national level.
Nyakabaya Primary School head teacher, Sunday Godfrey commended his pupils for raising the school flag higher.
He vowed to provide the pupils with all the necessary support.
Pupils from Gisorora Coordinating Centre expressed joy at his school’s victory and vowed to perform encourage sports talents among his pupils.
The Kisoro District Sports Officer Twesigyire Erick said that the national games will take place between 15th and 24th August this year in Wakiso city.
He commended the young boys and girls for participating in sports urging them to develop their talent because many people in the world earn their livelihood from the sports industry.
Twesigyire said that best players from different coordinating centres will be selected to beef up the teams that will represent the district in the future.
He vowed to increase the sports budget for schools to ensure sporting activities like football and netball are beefed up.
Kisoro District Inspector of Schools Niringiye Nzitusi asked the two district champions to be right ambassadors at the national level and ensure that they strive for excellence.
He commended games teachers at the schools for greatly improving talents among the pupils.
