A total of Seven Students from Kisoro district have been admitted to different Public Universities for the academic year 2023/2024 under the Government Sponsorship Program.
Three students from Kisoro Vision Secondary School, three from Muhabura Shine Secondary School and one from Standard Secondary School will have the privilege to pursue further education, without burdening their parents and caregivers for tuition.
Ampumuza Dan of Muhabura Shine, who got 19 points says he was admitted to Mbarara University of Science and Technology for Medicine.
He admits that he has been privileged to be on education bursaries since his Senior One because of his good performance.
Ampumuza admits that discipline and focus on his education was key in achieving excellent marks for University.
Gift Amos of Kisoro Vision Secondary School attained 20 points and said hard work and persistence paid off because he will be able to achieve more without having to burden his family for money for tuition.
Racheal Twizere of Kisoro Vision who got 17 points says all those cold nights in winter, reading her books finally paid off.
She will be pursuing a bachelor’s in forestry at Makerere University.
Martin Nabasa, the Head teacher of Muhabura Shine says academic excellence is a top priority at the school however developing an all-round human being is important for the youth to tap into Opportunities beyond the lecture room.
Steven Hafasha, the deputy Head Teacher of Kisoro Vision called on more parents to encourage their children to study Science Subjects and instill discipline in their children if they wish to see such in their children.
