Police is still investigating the circumstances under which the accident occurred in Nyundo Sub County last evening.

According to Police spokesperson for Kigezi region, Elly Maate, the accident occurred involved players of Gorilla Highlands Sports Club who were coming from a match in Bukimbiri Sub County. Gorilla Highlands had won the match 6-0 against Bukimbiri Football Club.

They were travelling in motor vehicle registration number UAD 506S, Nissan Datsun, when it failed to negotiate a corner at Rugaryi village, after Nyundo Sub County Headquarters, at around 6 pm.

By press time, Police were unable to determine the cause of the accident, while the wreckage of the motor vehicle was towed to Kisoro Police Station as investigations into the matter continue.

However, sources blamed it on overloading passengers. Police say about 25 people were loaded in the Datsun pickup which made it fail to negotiate a sharp corner.
