Residents of Karambo village, Buhozi Parish in Busanza Sub-county are facing growing challenges due to the poor state of roads, which religious leaders say is hindering access to essential services and putting lives at risk.
On Friday 3rd April 4, 2026, while preaching at a send-off ceremony for the late Manirakiza Seresa, a resident of ikarambo village, who reportedly died while being rushed to hospital, Reverend Aggry Mugarura of Karambo Church of Uganda expressed concern over the deteriorating road conditions in the area.
Rev. Mugarura noted that the poor road network has severely affected service delivery, particularly in the health sector, where delays in accessing medical care have led to loss of lives hence noting that many residents remain at high risk, citing limited access to health facilities due to impassable roads.
The clergyman also highlighted the economic impact of the situation, explaining that residents are unable to transport their produce to markets, which has negatively affected household incomes and livelihoods.
Rev. Mugarura further questioned claims from political leaders who allege that the country is peaceful and progressing, yet communities continue to struggle to access basic public services hence calling on the government to urgently intervene and address the road infrastructure challenges to improve service delivery and the wellbeing of residents in the area.
