The Executive Director of Uganda Investment Authority Robert Mukiza has urged Bafumbira to consider investing their resources in Kisoro as one way of uplifting the status of the district.
Mukiza, who was the chief guest at the third Isangane Heritage Festival in Kisoro District said, a lot more developments can be set up across the district by men and women of means who are passionate about seeing Kisoro develop.
This theme for this year’s Isangane event was celebrating our Heritage, Preserving our Culture.
According to Mukiza, the district leadership has an opportunity to share ideas of where best to invest and lobby through the great Bafumbira to ensure that more opportunities are made available to Bafumbira, living in Kisoro District.
He thanked Ubuntu Bafumbira United Association (UBUA) for being a concerned community body that has fostered the spirit of networking and lobbying for services to reach closer to the people.
The Uganda Prisons Assistant Commissioner Hillary Bisanga who is the chairperson of Ubuntu Bafumbira United Association (UBUA) said the association has managed to achieve most of its objectives this year, particularly extending health services to the vulnerable communities in Kisoro.
Guest Speaker John Tereraho, who is also the Provincial Head of Laity in the Church of Uganda asked Bafumbira to keep the working spirit and hospitality of the forefathers.
According to Tereraho, the older generations have a responsibility to share knowledge and their experiences to the younger generations so that the history and culture is not forgotten or watered down.
State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs and Kisoro Woman Member of Parliament, Sarah Mateke Nyirabashitsi thanked the leadership of Ubuntu Bafumbira United Association (UBUA) for bringing the event to Kisoro.
She commended the members who use their time and resources to invest in Kisoro’ healthcare system.
Kisoro District LCV Chairperson Abel Bizimana said the spirit behind Isangane is one that should be embraced by all Bafumbira because it promotes development and goodwill without evoking negative sentiments that arise from Political and religious lines.
