Private and government primary schools in Kisoro Municipality are set to benefit from the introduction of the Primary Education Performance Assessment System (PEPAS) application, a digital tool aimed at improving learning outcomes and school management.
The PEPAS application is designed to support schools by providing accurate data on pupil enrollment, tracking learners’ academic progress, and equipping teachers with essential instructional resources. This is expected to enhance lesson delivery and enable teachers to better support their pupils.
Speaking during a training workshop held on April 13, 2026 at the Kisoro Municipal Council Hall, Tushabe Ronald, a facilitator from Youth Empowerment Technology, said the application will play a significant role in improving academic performance across primary schools in the municipality.
He explained that the system will also help head teachers monitor school performance, track syllabus coverage, and manage overall academic activities more effectively.
Meanwhile, Kisoro Municipality Town Clerk, Mugisha Richard, noted that head teachers and educators have received the necessary training to effectively use the system. He added that school leaders have committed to improving learners’ performance by reducing poor grades, particularly Grade U and Grade 4.
Mugisha emphasized that with the knowledge and skills acquired from the PEPAS training, schools are now better equipped to help learners achieve higher grades, especially in the first, second, and third divisions.
The rollout of the PEPAS application is expected to strengthen education management and contribute to better academic outcomes for all primary school learners in Kisoro Municipality helping to digitize and streamline school operations with strong data security and a clear, easy-to-use system.
