The Kisoro chief magistrate HW Kenneth Komakech on Wednesday adjourned to 14th August 2024 a case in which 12 people are accused of arson and malicious damage to property.
The suspects in the case are Michael Ndagije, Ndayisenga Alex, Mbishinzimana Deo, Sunday Fred, Mugabe Robert, Nyirangirimana Flora, Mfitumukiza John and others, all residents of Karambi village, Gasovu parish, Nyarusiza Sub County, Kisoro district.
Prosecution states that the accused persons, with malice aforethought, in May 2024, attacked, devastated and burnt the house of Serugo Erias, while accusing him of witchcraft.
The state told court that the suspects were armed with matchboxes and machetes which they used to devastate the victim’s house.
On 12th June, His Worship Komakech adjourned the case to 31st July 2024, and issued out a warrant of arrest for a one Mfitumukiza John, one of the suspects who had not appeared in court.
On Wednesday, Mfitumukiza did not appear in court again, forcing His Worship Komaketch to further delay the hearing for 14th August 2024, pending the arrest of Mfitumukiza John.
