The communities of Ntungamo Village, Nteko parish, Nkuringo town Council, Bukimbiri County, Kisoro district have praised the Government of Uganda for upgrading Nkuringo Health Center (HC) II to a HC III.
The Nkuringo Green Hill Health Centre (NGHH) was set up in partnership with Singing Gorilla Projects, a UK Based NGO, whose mission is to support communities in and around Nkuringo by providing accessible and affordable medical services and treatment.
The health facility was commissioned and inaugurated, by then Kisoro Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Hajji Shafiq Sekandi back in December 2016.
Over the weekend, Hajji Shafiq Sekandi returned to the health facility, several years later as the newly appointed RDC to Kisoro district following a memorable stint in Kanungu district.
Managing director Singing Gorilla project Christopher Read thanked the people of Nkuringo town council for utilizing the facilities and making sure that they prioritize their health.
The Chairperson of Rubuguri Catholic Church Asgario Turyagenda thanked Singing Gorilla for the work they have managed to do in Nkuringo since 2014.
Former Politician and Businessman Eddie Kwizera Wa Gahungu also thanked Government for taking up the mantle and supporting the health facility by ensuring people access better health services.
Both Asgario Turyagenda and Eddie Kwizera Wa Gahungu are vying for Bukimbiri County Member of Parliament seat that recently fell vacant following a high court ruling.
The Kisoro Resident District Commissioner Hajji Shafiq Sekandi said Government is grateful to Ntekko parish because it voted highest for President Yoweri Museveni during the just concluded Presidential elections.
He noted that Bukimbiri County is still facing a challenge of enough medicines because the demand is very high.
Kisoro District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. Steven Nsabiyumva urged the communities to make use of the Health Center III instead of traveling long distances to Rubuguri to seek medical assistance.
