Jaguar Executive Buses, plying the route of Kisoro – Kampala has purchased new state of the art buses to bolster the existing ones that have since shown inability to meet client satisfaction due to old age.
Jaguar Bus Company has purchased 10 new buses from China and Isuzu East Africa, fitted with amenities required for a modern-day traveler, including screens and charging systems.
Jaguar Bus Spokesperson Safari Innocent says Jaguar has been operating in Kisoro for over 20 years providing quality services.
Jaguar is also known to cross into neighboring Rwanda, a trusted transport provider carrying passenger cargo and food stuff below deck and allowing clients enough leg room to stretch and enough the ride.
Safari says he is aware of seven bus companies in Operating in Kisoro which is fertile ground for competition however most buses are unable to handle the demands of an increased road distance from 500 to 700kms to Kampala due to the Katonga road breakdown.
Road transport from Western Uganda to the Capital, Kampala has been drastically affected by infrastructural break down at Katonga Bridge and in Rubanda district.
According to Safari, the bus company has not increased its bus fares for the last five years despite the economic turbulence in the country that has been fuel and food prices rise.
He said the new buses will not require clients to pay an extra cost as long as they continue to show loyalty to Jaguar bus.
Morris Hakizimana, an avid traveler for work and pleasure says Jaguar has always been his number one bus.
The political leader representing Kisoro Youth as Finance Secretary Kisoro District Youth Councilor said the new buses offer a new lease of life for travelers who have long been disappointed in Kisoro transport system.
Hakizimana however said Jaguar needs to address some of its weakness as a leader in the industry.
“They no longer keep their word in terms of time management. They often stop for every client on the road, like a taxi and yet bus terminals are meant to serve an exact purpose”, Hakizimana said
He noted that people travel on the road with specific reasons, some for business, fun other to see family however managing time is vital.
Kisoro Traffic O.C Kushaba Micheal said Jaguar Buses has done exceptional well to purchase new buses since most buses in the district were very old.
He advised the drivers not to get carried away and drive recklessly, trying to impress clients by over speeding.
Kushaba noted that buses that continue to overload clients as well as paying extremely loud music will be fined up to 200, 000 Ugandan shillings.
“Buses from Kisoro were never designed to be disco halls. People need to be able to think, read and even pray as they travel, therefore, this is a caution to other bus companies to desist from the behavior”, Kushaba said
