The family of a deceased UPDF Solider from Murindi Village, Muhindura Parish, Kanaba Sub County, Kisoro district have called on all road users to observe traffic rules and regulations to avoid unnecessary loss of lives on Ugandan roads.
While speaking at the burial ceremony of Private Nsekuye Erisa aged 28 who was attached to Katakwi Army barracks, family and friends said the deceased could have survived the accident, if he was putting on a helmet.
A Police report indicates that on the 6th of August 2023 at around 5pm, Nsekuye was riding a motorcycle registration number UFW 340C carrying his wife and child when he had a head on collision with another motorcycle registration number UFG 914U being ridden by Urban, from Busozi Village, Gisorora Parish, Nyakabande Sub County.
One of the first responders at the scene of the accident said the Late Nsekuye died before reaching St. Francis Hospital, Mutolere. He noted that the country has lost a patriot.
Road accidents have been prevalent on Kisoro roads due to over speeding and reckless riding and driving.
